Last evening, I was very emotionally angry at my team of choice for losing a rival game. Most of the family was hiding out, trying to stay away from me until I calmed down. Every year I tell Chris that this rival game is one that I should watch alone, but he never listens and then I feel bad because I banish myself to the small television in the bedroom so the kids don't hear my mouth. Most of the time though I don't catch myself in time, realize what filth is coming out of my mouth and then get away from the family too late.

Still stewing after the final score, I was standing in the kitchen drinking apple juice out of the bottle and there was a knock on the door. I thought that it probably was my stepdad, coming over to commiserate with me, (he ended up calling later) but it was my friend BB, who I've been friends with since kindergarten.

She said that she was just stopping by, her and her boyfriend were on their way somewhere, but she had something for me. She gave me a hug and a kiss, handed me a card and a mug full of teas and cocoas and jumped back into the car.

She usually sends out Thanksgiving cards, so I thought that this is what she was dropping off. She had drawn a turkey on the back. I opened the card and this is what it said.

On the front cover there is a moon and stars in purple, golds and creams. In script font, it reads, "Thinking of you"
On the inside it says, "And wishing you the moon, the stars and just a touch of heaven because you are such a wonderful person." Wow! How sweet!

But then, get a hold of what she wrote:
"Dear Kari,
In honor of adoption day. You are such a dear friend I wanted to remind you how much you mean to me. I love you.
Bonny"

OK, tears! She is such a doll. And then the Cougs being so inadequate didn't seem like such a huge deal at all. Thanks, Bon Bon for the perspective. I love you too!
