I am an avid reader and when I got this job, I was so excited to start adding fertility books onto my reading list. I soon found out that I was continuing to make choices, of course, based on my own experience and also along with my own taste. I love memoir and non fiction works, so that is what I have been reviewing mostly for this blog.

I then started to think about all of the other books involving fertility that I am not reading that my readers might benefit from. I found this list on www.about.com.

1) Taking Charge of Your Fertility
This book is a classic in the realm of fertility. Not only will it help you achieve pregnancy faster, but it can help you diagnose some infertility problems. Since most reproductive endocrinologists recommend at least six months of charting before they will see you, this book can help you have that done in no time flat, and done correctly!

2) Getting Pregnant & Staying Pregnant
This book is in it's 3rd edition, a classic in infertility realms. It's no nonsense guide to many types of infertility treatments, from the simple medications to the invasive assisted reproductive technologies. Without being preachy it gives you a good idea of what is available and gives you a basic education to talk to your practitioners. It also covers staying pregnant after getting pregnant such as preventing miscarriage.

3) How to Get Pregnant with the New Technology
A lengthy description and discussion of all the latest technologies to help couples with infertility. A great book, if a bit technical for the average reader.

4) Unsung Lullabies: Understanding and Coping with Infertility
A great book on the emotional side effects of infertility. From dealing with and accepting the infertility, to coping with treatments, staying sane and in love. This book covers all the hot issues, including topics others don't dare touch, like how much is a baby worth? Highly recommend this book for anyone suffering from infertility.

5) A Few Good Eggs
A warm hearted appraoch to infertility information from women and familise who have been there. In addition to the usual medical facts, you've got practical advice and laughs.

6) Overcoming Infertility
This book is written by Dr. Tommaso Falcone of the Cleveland Clinic. It has sections on many types of infertility and their treatment. It also has a section for plain talk which is just that and a section on the same topic that is more in depth, allowing you to choose how much detail you want. It is sprinkled with patient stories and doesn't shy away from tough topics like loss, money, non-traditional parenting. See the review for more information.

TCOYF = must have for ALL women, even if you're NOT considering having a child. Knowing about your cycle, the different signs and what is abnormal will only help you to understand your body!! The nurse in school didn't teach you this stuff. Your Mom didn't teach you this stuff. But you NEED to know it.
