Fertility Blog - Thursday Thirteen Thankful/ Not Thankful

To put a spin on today's message, I thought that I would do a post about a mix of thirteen things that I'm thankful and not thankful for today:

Not Thankful - Spending the holiday meal apart from Chris and the kids as this is the only way that we can make the majority of people happy. Sometimes living in the same town as everyone else can have it's disadvantages.

Not Thankful - Stores that continue to be open, although there really isn't that much of a need for consumerism today. I am old enough to remember when a lot of stores were closed on Sundays. And now you can hardly find one that is closed on Thanksgiving or Christmas. It makes me sad.

Not Thankful - Seeing the little tiny two year old at the restaurant this evening, all decked out in her fancy dress, but freezing in her inadequate shoes and tights that matched, but were flimsy. I wanted to pick her up and put a sweatsuit and socks on her.

Not Thankful - Having my niece hand me a drawing that she did of my dad and her under which she wrote, I miss you Papa. I love you. The picture was wonderful. She drew them both with cowboy hats on. I'm not thankful that she had a reason to write it.

Not Thankful - that there are people today who really do not feel in a thankful mood, but have to pretend for someone else's sake.

Thankful - To have my side of the family be together and enjoy a wonderful meal that was especially cooked for each one of us.

Thankful - For prime rib and lobster option, when I'm "supposed" to be having turkey and stuffing.

Thankful - For our jobs to allow us to afford going out to dinner for me tonight and for all 4 of us to go out to breakfast this morning

Thankful - For being with the kids when they saw their first decorated Christmas tree of the year. They were in awe.

Thankful - Safe, dependable cars to get us to and from all of our engagements today and lastly back home for the night.

Thankful - Knowing myself well enough to stay away from the ads for holiday shopping tomorrow. No amount of savings is worth those crowds!
