Fertility Calculator

Wondering how fertile you may be without the help of fertility treatments? Log on to www.infertilitycentral.com and click on their fertility calculator. All that it takes is answering a few simple questions like how long you have been trying and if you have been pregnant before. They then calculate your chances in percentages of months from 3-36 months.

Although we aren't ready for another one yet, (Hey, Bec is only 8 months old!) here are our chances of conceiving according to my test:

Cumulative Chance of pregnancy without treatment
by 3 months 29%
by 6 months 43 %
by 12 months 62%
by 24 months 94%
by 36 months 98%

This test was provided by ReproMed.

This is the first fertility calculator that I have used. It was very easy and I'm sure that there are more complicated ones out there. When we were trying to get pregnant, I used a conception predictor that I had found on the web just for kicks and never really used the results. The over the counter ovulation kits were also very popular with my friends who were on a specific time line for pregnancy to happen.

This test sure got me future thinking. Where are we planning to be as a family in 3, 6, 12, 24 and 36 months? In 3 years I will be 38, Chris 34, Ivy 5 and Becken 3. Is there another baby in our future? What is our time line really like with me just turning 35? Are we done having biological kids? Are we through with adoption applications and dossiers and home studies? Are we done having kids at all? These are questions that I really don't want to answer today, or even think too deeply about right now. But, then again, do I want a certain option to be off of the table? Having these general results gives me something else for the back burner. One thing is very sure though, we would need to buy a bigger car!

I thought the fertility calculator was interesting to see. It gives you kind of a general idea of how you might want to plan things out. We aren't sure exactly where we want to be with our family either, as far as another baby goes, but at least the timing thing can be worked out once a decision is made.

Funny - our cars are the limiting reagents in our family growing again, too. Right now, we can fit the 2 boosters and a babyseat in the backseats. Its snug, but it works. Fortunately we don't live in a place where we drive very much. But me in a van...the payment on a van...I don't know. But I know we want Baby #4 one way or the other, sooner or later...!

ugh, less than a 50 % chance of pregnancy in the next three years. I kinda knew that, but still, it isn't easy to see.

Hi All,

I wonder if I should have put a disclaimer or something on this post about the numbers being difficult to see, etc. Even though we all kind of knew what our numbers would be? What do you think?
Was this helpful or not?
