I have just finished a three round treatment for allergies at my acupuncturist's office. Last month I had sinus surgery and my septum reconstructed due to a sinus infection that I had had for over 6 months, that even with a 10 week treatment with antibiotics didn't cure. Not only did the infection cause breathing trouble, I also had vertigo, headaches and ear pain. A CT scan showed tissue damage as well. After the surgery, I felt wonderful. Almost all secondary symptoms were resolved. It was great, I could breathe. Until.

The first really windy spring day around here in Central Washington, you could see the pollen filled air blowing all around. In your face, in your hair, in your clothes. By that evening I couldn't breathe again, my left sinuses and my left ear were all full. I was at the end of my tether. I received a coupon for my free birthday treatment at the acupuncturist and took it as a sign.

Mr. R explained to me that in Chinese medicine allergies are related to cold in various organ systems in the body. He recommends this set of treatments to help heat up the systems that are cold, helping to endure the spring allergy season. At the beginning of fall he then recommends another treatment to help the body gear up for the winter allergens.

Using needles in specific points on my vertebra, he located the areas for lungs, spleen and kidneys. There would be twelve needles total. After palpating my spine to locate the correct position, he marked the spots with a pen line so in the following two treatments, he could skip that part. Setting up a heat lamp to shine on my back and another to shine on my feet we were ready to begin.
