A couple of days ago two people reported to San Diego police an ad on Craigslist offering up a free baby. The ad said,
The copy given to police says: “Free baby boy to good home. My ex-girlfriend had him a few weeks ago, but now he just sits in my closet and cries. I'm not too sure how to deal with it, and I'm in a pretty low financial spot. I lost all the baby accessories. Batteries not included. Transaction final. No returns. Guaranteed not DOA.”

As luck would have it, my best friend was a stroller designer during my pregnancy and while Ivy was a tiny baby. We have so many strollers that it is crazy. I believe that we had 3 types of "jogging" strollers, 2 umbrella strollers, a general folding stroller and my absolute favorite stroller, our InSTEP stroller/backpack.
While researching for this post, this link had the best price.
The pluses for me for this stroller is that it is so tiny and lightweight that I bring it everywhere.... more
One of my best girlfriends bought me a subscription to Child magazine for Christmas. My subscription started last month and even before I was through with the first issue, I was so excited about the magazine. Mostly because of the beautiful photography, but also because of the ideas that I got for this blog.
In the first issue, this advertisement caught my eye. It is from ConfirmClearly and it is a refillable pregnancy test. From their website:
The only test with money-saving refills! Be sure to save your reader for future... more
Once again, upon signing online this morning, my opening page had a link to the following website and article, which lead to the next article as the cycle goes. And now, I pass them along to you.
Here is the introduction from www.thatsfit.com:
Menopausal changes due to a woman's relationships, not hormones Posted: Oct 26th 2006 1:23PM by Brian White Filed under: Women's Health
As many women approach menopause, it's long been thought that hormonal changes start affecting sex lives at roughly the same time. But, according to a new set of studies by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, a woman's... more

When I signed on to AOL this morning this was the photo that I saw. My heart melted. I remember the first time that I saw Lourdes in a photo shoot, with her curls and almost black eyes. I remember seeing Rocco being held by his mommy coming out from the family wedding. And now this photo of mommy, sister, brother and David. Tenderness and good wishes for this family flooded my brain.
I replied to a previous Madonna post last week on this site. Actually "coming out" as a huge Madonna fan, with my adoration starting way back with my... more

I apologize for the sorry state of the image that I had to scan and then alter to get to fit into our format. I tried to find a jpeg image from different websites but I wasn't able to find one. So, you're at least stuck with a partial, grainy image instead of having me describe it to you.
I came across this ad for Clearblue Easy Digital Ovulation Test. You might not be able to see all of the words, but it goes like this.

There is a growing body of evidence that organic farming practices help reduce exposure to toxic chemicals in our food and the environment. Some health issues linked to the use of toxic and persistent chemicals used in farming include cancer in humans, birth defects, infertility, and antibiotic resistance. Environmental pollution and degradation such as greenhouse gasses, tainted drinking water, soil erosion and loss of natural resources are also linked to the use of toxic and persistent chemicals in farming. Organic farming offers an alternative that helps protect... more

Here is an example of a fertility related article from www.happynews.com.
Reported in this article is that the painting "Roots" by Frida Kahlo set the record as the highest price for the sale of a piece of Latin American art. It also set a high for the artist as well. Here is part of the background behind the painting.
The 1943 oil-on-metal shows the artist reclining in a bright orange dress with leafy... more
Still wading through my found New York Times that was buried in a tote in my kitchen, I read the oddest article while on the treadmill. Titled,"And Next to the Bearded Lady, Premature Babies" by Michael Brick. What?!!
It seems that from 1903 to the 1940, Dr. Martin A. Couney used preemies as a freak attraction in incubators, just like the other participants like the bearded lady and such. Here is the intro:
The babies were lined up under heaters and they breathed filtered air. Few of them weighed more than three pounds. They... more

While I was deeply desiring a baby, I couldn't get enough of anything baby-related. I was a closet reader of magazines like Parents, loved catalogs by Hannah Anderson and adored baby pictures of children known and unknown to me. This was at the height of the Anne Geddes craze, so I was able to get a baby pic fix pretty readily. I never did buy any of her stuff though. Especially her last coffee table book which freaked me out with those women wearing sheer dresses with babies tucked underneath. Ick.
Last night I was groping through piles of old... more
