I request a ton of books at a time from the library. I'll go in once or twice a week and bring out a stack of maybe 3-4 books. When I first found out that I was going to be doing this blog, I went crazy with the infertility books. I remember bringing out a stack of them as usual, setting them on the passenger side next to me, then rifling through them while waiting for the stoplight. Well, I just got a notice that my first batch of books are now due to be returned, so I need to write up these reviews.

Ruth Reichl came into my life through a zine, which is one of my passions and something that I will write quite a bit more about later. Kate Haas writes the Miranda zine and includes a reading list that I have found some real gems on. And a lot of things that I don't think that I ever would have read on my own.

The Lessons of the Lilies by Karen C. McCord is a book that chronicles her life coming to parenthood and her found faith through the process. The interesting part of this book that hooked me was not the actual story, or her telling of it. It was the inclusion of her husband's perspective on their losses and troubles that I found so engaging. I have read quite a few books dealing with the... more

I am a sucker for a memoir. In fact, that is almost the only thing that I read and I read a lot! This book was given to me by a dear friend. She had bought it at the gift shop on a quick get away to Yellowstone. I normally would never have picked this up, but it really sounded interesting. And if I am recommended a book to read, I usually read it no matter what.
